In Rotary International September is Basic Education & Literacy Month.

More than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. That’s 17 percent of the world’s adult population. Rotary's goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy.

At the The Rotary Club of Hickam Pearl Harbor and throughout Rotary Hawaii District 5000 we support education for all children and literacy for children and adults.

The Hawaiian Humane Society understands the challenges pet owners can face when moving. Pet-friendly housing is in short supply. Shipping animals out of state can be expensive and complicated.
While these barriers to keeping our furry family members are real, abandoning an animal is both illegal and inhumane. Safe surrender gives your pet his or her best chance at a new life in a loving home.
