We are a small, but mighty group of like-minded individuals that want to make a difference in our community and this month is no different from any other. Learn about what's happening in November!
November started off in high gear and there is no sign of slowing down. Over the Veteran’s Day weekend (November 11), HPH Charter Member, Allen Kamemoto led the district’s efforts in getting the new units ready for residents at the #KahauikiVillage
The following weekend (November 16), HPH’s newly chartered Interact Club at Dole Middle School worked their first student-led #ServiceProject , a community food pantry.
Under the advisement of HPH Youth Service Chair, Lisa Harding, and Dole MS Faculty Advisor, Grace Domingo, the food pantry was open to Dole Middle School’s surrounding community and families, of which 38 families were able to come through and pick up food. Donations came from a community partners, including the Rotary Clubs of Hickam Pearl Harbor and Metro Honolulu. Hawaii’s #FutureLeaders were able to impact a total of 135 people in their first service project. To learn more about Dole Middle School’s Interact Club, check out their website and calendar here.

Later that evening, HPH Fundraiser Chair, Emilie Smith held the first HPH Wine Bottling Party and Fundraiser at Oeno Winemaking in Kailua. Each guest was able to bottle their own bottle of wine and share stories of friendship.
Coming up this week (Thursday, November 21st at 6:00 p.m.) is our General Meeting where fellow Rotarian, Dr. Arjun Aryal (RC Honolulu Sunset) will speak to us about a Global Grant that he is spearheading. Join us for our meeting! Fellowship begins at 5:45 p.m. You can learn more about our speaker here.

On Sunday (November 24), #DoleMSInteract will continue their second day of the food pantry. Spread the word to those in need from the Kalihi area and invite them to Dole Middle School on Sunday between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. If you’re in the area, come and say “Hi.” You can also sign up to help out at the food pantry by clicking here.

You are also invited to attend Dole Middle School’s Interact Club’s General Meeting on Monday at 2:30 p.m. This is the first Middle School Interact Club in District 5000 and is completely led by the students.

Before the Interact meeting, HPH will participate in Kalihi Elementary School’s Turkey Trot. Coordinated by HPH Secretary Joshua Laguana and Aleeka Morgan, we are still looking for 12-15 volunteers to help out in this fun, school-wide activity between 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 25th. If you are able to volunteer, sign up here or contact Joshua.

The month isn’t over yet! THANKSGIVING is NEXT THURSDAY! With that being said, HPH will be joining their friends at the Oahu Veterans Center to serve lunch to the community’s veterans and families. Coordinated by President-elect, Carole Reynolds, this will be HPH’s second time giving thanks to those that have given so much for our country’s freedom. If you are able to join, sign up here.
