Physical Health

Derek was born and raised in Aiea, Hawaii. He grew up participating in numerous sports including baseball, soccer, and judo suffering multiple injuries and experiencing the value of physical therapy to get him back in action and playing at his highest level. He was also in the Boy Scouts of America and attained the rank of Eagle Scout which has taught him the importance of giving back to the community and helping others.

Derek attended Pacific University in Oregon where he played soccer while earning his B.S. in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Integrative Physiology in 2007. He continued his education at Pacific earning his Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2010. He has experience with outpatient orthopedics and neurological rehabilitation and has developed a comprehensive approach to evaluating and treating patients. Derek became an American Physical Therapy Association board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) in 2014. He is extremely excited to have a physical therapy clinic in his hometown where he can finally give back to the community that has given him so much over the years.

In his free time, he enjoys golfing, fishing, surfing, and practicing jiu-jitsu. He also loves going the beach to swim and fish with his family.
