Membership Types
The Rotary Club of Hickam Pearl Harbor has two kinds of membership, namely: active and honorary.
Active Membership.
Active Membership is a person possessing the qualifications set forth in in article 5, section 2 of the RI constitution may be elected to active membership in this club:
(a) A club shall be composed of adult persons who demonstrate good character, integrity, and leadership; possess good reputation within their business, profession, occupation, and/or community; and are willing to serve in their community and/or around the world and having their place of business or residence located in the locality of the club or the surrounding area. A member moving from the locality of the club or the surrounding area may retain membership in the club where the member’s board grants such permission and said member continues to meet all conditions of club membership.
(b) Each club shall have a well-balanced membership in which no one business, profession, occupation, type of community service, or other classification predominates.
(c) The bylaws of RI may provide for active membership and honorary membership in clubs and shall prescribe the qualifications for each.
(d) In countries where the word “club” has an inappropriate connotation, Rotary clubs or Rotaract clubs, with the approval of the board, will not be obliged to use it in their names.
No person shall simultaneously hold active membership in this and another club other than a satellite of this club. No person shall simultaneously be a member and an honorary member in this club.
Honorary Membership.
(a) Eligibility for Honorary Membership. Persons who have distinguished themselves by meritorious service in the furtherance of Rotary ideals and those persons considered friends of Rotary for their support of Rotary’s cause may be elected to honorary membership in this club. The term of such membership shall be as determined by the board. Persons may hold honorary membership in more than one club.
(b) Rights and Privileges. Honorary members shall be exempt from the payment of dues, shall have no vote, and shall not be eligible to hold any office in this club. Such members shall not hold classifications, but shall be entitled to attend all meetings and enjoy all the other privileges of this club. No honorary member of this club is entitled to any rights and privileges in any other club, except for the right to visit other clubs without being the guest of a Rotarian.
With each kind of membership, the club offers a variety of membership types:
Active Membership Types.
General
A General membership is the standard active membership as defined in the club’s constitution.
Corporate
A Corporate membership allows clubs to involve a corporation — or any business, nonprofit, or government entity — in Rotary by offering an alternative membership package to some of its employees. Having corporate members increases the club’s membership while expanding its network and visibility in the community. Members gain access to the fellowship and service opportunities of Rotary with the possibility of a much smaller time commitment.
Command
A Command membership allows the club to involve a military command with Hawaii Rotary by offering an alternative membership package to its active-duty and DOD members. This initiative brings the military and civilian communities to serve together. Having active-duty and DOD members increases the club’s membership while expanding its network and visibility in the community. Members gain access to the fellowship and service opportunities of Rotary with the possibility of a much smaller time commitment.
Active-Duty Military
Active-Duty Military memberships offer discounted dues to individual active-duty military personnel. The purpose of this membership is to introduce Rotary to the active-duty military member and in the event, the member moves, he/she has an appreciation of Rotary and looks for a club in his/her new home.
Non-Profit Professional
Non-Profit Professional memberships offer discounted dues to individual professionals working in a social welfare non-profit organization recognized as a 501(c) by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The purpose of this membership is to introduce the club to other local non-profits and encourage collaboration.
Young Professional
Young Professional memberships offer discounted dues to individual professionals under the age of 40. The purpose of this membership is to connect young professionals to local businesses and community leaders in Rotary.
Spouse/Partner
Spouse and Partner memberships offer discounted dues to a spouse or partner of an Active member of the Rotary Club of Hickam Pearl Harbor. The purpose of this membership is to encourage members and their partners/spouses to serve together.

As adopted by Rotary International's Board of Directors in June 2021:
At Rotary, we understand that cultivating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture is essential to realizing our vision of a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change.
We value diversity and celebrate the contributions of people of all backgrounds, across age, ethnicity, race, color, disability, learning style, religion, faith, socioeconomic status, culture, marital status, languages spoken, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity as well as differences in ideas, thoughts, values, and beliefs.
Recognizing that individuals from certain groups have historically experienced barriers to membership, participation, and leadership, we commit to advancing equity in all aspects of Rotary, including in our community partnerships, so that each person has the necessary access to resources, opportunities, networks, and support to thrive.
We believe that all people hold visible and invisible qualities that inherently make them unique, and we strive to create an inclusive culture where each person knows they are valued and belong.
In line with our value of integrity, we are committed to being honest and transparent about where we are in our DEI journey as an organization, and to continuing to learn and do better.
This statement is an exciting step forward in Rotary's commitment to creating a positive environment for current and future members, as well as the communities we serve.
