Vocational Speaker

Ambria Flippo currently lives in Aiea, HI and has been a resident on and off island for the past 8 years. She currently works as the Team Leader for MTX Education Services. Her team and she were contracted by the Department of Education in conjunction with the Department of Public Safety to provide educational and behavioral health support services to young adults with special needs serving time in prison on Oahu and the outer Hawaiian Islands.

Ambria received an Associates of Arts Degree from Glendale Community College and received an undergraduate degree in Sociology from Hawaii Pacific University. Ambria fell in love with the program and decided to continue her education with a Masters of Social Work, also from HPU.

In her first year of the program, Ambria completed her practicum at Queens Medical Center in the acute psychiatric care unit. In the Spring of 2015, Ambria participated in an international humanitarian mission in Cambodia with sponsorship from the Nan Shin Foundation and support from the Rotary Club of Honolulu.

In 2016, Ambria interned at the City and County of Honolulu, focusing on their Proud to Be A Jerk Campaign, in an effort to prevent underage drinking. She graduated with honors from the MSW program where she also founded the Young Americans for Liberty Chapter, was a member of the Phi Alpha Honor society, an active MSW Peer Mentor, and coordinated the School of Social Work Pinning Ceremony. In the Summer and Fall of 2016, Ambria decided to complete her second major and finished her BA in Political Science Degree.

After graduating, Ambria spent time in California working as a Mental Health Specialist for Lutheran Social Services, and later as a Social Service Practitioner for Children and Family Services before moving back to Hawaii in 2018. In her spare time, Ambria enjoys exploring Hawaii, whether by hiking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, spending the day at the beach, or discovering ono restaurants. She is a fan of sports, both attending events and participating. Her greatest joy comes from traveling around the world. She has visited 25 countries and hopes to see many more in the future.
