Makiki Valley Loop Trail Makiki Valley Loop Trail is a 3.8 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. |

We are looking for 5 volunteers to join us at the Next Step Shelter to help serve dinner to the residents. The Rotary Club of Hickam Pearl Harbor will provide the meal and drinks. All we need is YOU! We will also be distributing toiletry bags. If you would like to make a donation for the toiletry bags, please bring donations to R&M Reyes Enterprises in Halawa during regular business hours (Monday through Friday from 8am-4pm) or let any HPH member know. Let's serve those that are in need at the Next Step Shelter on Friday, Sept. 25th |

Ambria Flippo currently lives in Aiea, HI and has been a resident on and off island for the past 8 years. She currently works as the Team Leader for MTX Education Services. Her team and she were contracted by the Department of Education in conjunction with the Department of Public Safety to provide educational and behavioral health support services to young adults with special needs serving time in prison on Oahu and the outer Hawaiian Islands. Ambria received an Associates of Arts Degree from Glendale Community College and received an undergraduate degree in Sociology from Hawaii Pacific University. Ambria fell in love with the program and decided to continue her education with a Masters of Social Work, also from HPU. In her first year of the program, Ambria completed her practicum at Queens Medical Center in the acute psychiatric care unit. In the Spring of 2015, Ambria participated in an international humanitarian mission in Cambodia with sponsorship from the Nan Shin Foundation and support from the Rotary Club of Honolulu. In 2016, Ambria interned at the City and County of Honolulu, focusing on their Proud to Be A Jerk Campaign, in an effort to prevent underage drinking. She graduated with honors from the MSW program where she also founded the Young Americans for Liberty Chapter, was a member of the Phi Alpha Honor society, an active MSW Peer Mentor, and coordinated the School of Social Work Pinning Ceremony. In the Summer and Fall of 2016, Ambria decided to complete her second major and finished her BA in Political Science Degree. After graduating, Ambria spent time in California working as a Mental Health Specialist for Lutheran Social Services, and later as a Social Service Practitioner for Children and Family Services before moving back to Hawaii in 2018. In her spare time, Ambria enjoys exploring Hawaii, whether by hiking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, spending the day at the beach, or discovering ono restaurants. She is a fan of sports, both attending events and participating. Her greatest joy comes from traveling around the world. She has visited 25 countries and hopes to see many more in the future. |

Join the Rotary Club of Hickam Pearl Harbor and our corporate sponsor, simplicityHR by ALTRES (ALTRES, Inc & ALTRES Foundation) at the Kahauiki Village to help with distributing food boxes to the residents on Friday, November 6 @ 9:00am. Beginning at 9:30, ALTRES will deliver pallets of food boxes that will contain:
Boxes weigh roughly 40lbs. Volunteers will help unload the boxes from the palets and then deliver the boxes to the units. Not all residents will sign up to receive a box, therefore Volunteers will work with Kahauiki Village/IHS staff to identify where each box will go. Upon delivering the food boxes, if the residents are not home, you may leave the boxes at their doors. All volunteers will be required to wear masks, gloves, and practice physical distancing. Volunteers will also be asked to sign up to ensure properly contact trace. The morning of the of event, volunteers will receive a text message from WellnessTracker.com to complete a wellness check. The Rotary Club of Hickam Pearl Harbor is collecting items for an undisclosed shelter for the upcoming Holiday season. Below are the items that we are collecting in new or slightly used conditions:
Items can be dropped off with Kim Castillo at Bowers and Kubota (94-408 Akoki Street Waipahu). Please contact Kim prior to delivery or dropoff. The Thanksgiving Dinner ingredients will be delivered on Sunday, November 22 by a small group of Rotarians. All other items will continue to be accepted and will be delivered in mid-December. |

We have a project to help the Women In Need organization to receive donations and some furniture has been donated and need to be transported. I have rented a van, but need manpower to bring down 2 dressers, two twin beds, a recliner, a love seat and a table from a condo and load onto the van.
