![]() Vocational Speaker - Physician Assistant/Associate
Nov 12, 2024 6:00 PM
Dr. John M. Waite is a licensed and certified physician assistant (PA) practicing urgent care with Kaiser Permanente at the Honolulu Clinic. John has been in practice for just over 10 years, and though he has worked in urgent care for the last nearly 5 years, he spent his first 6 years in emergency medicine, with 3 of those years also working in ears, nose, throat, and facial plastic surgery. He received his master's in physician assistant practice from the Keck School of Medicine of USC in 2014, and in 2024 earned his doctorate in healthcare leadership from Northeastern University, focused on public health and business management. A staunch supporter of access to care, John was actively involved in advocacy at the state and federal levels during his school years, working to improve and maintain funding to ensure continued access to women's health. He is currently working with the Hawaii Academy of Physician Assistants and state legislature to advance the profession to provide improved access by modernizing Hawaii healthcare laws. Beyond healthcare, John is a proud Rotarian of the Hickham Pearl Harbor Club, and he thoroughly enjoys giving back to his community, as he has done since his childhood. And, because he is a firm believer in both education and health literacy, he is currently working on a companion book series for kids and parents focused on improving people's knowledge of basic healthcare principles, with the hope that this will increase patient autonomy and promote patient self-advocacy. |

Whether your club is a subordinate under Rotary International’s 501(c)(4) group exemption or is independently tax-exempt, the IRS requires that all Rotary clubs in the U.S. and its territories file an annual information return. For clubs whose tax year follows the Rotary year, the deadline to file is 15 November. The form a club must file is dependent upon its gross receipts for the year. For more information, please see Frequently asked questions about annual reporting requirements for exempt organizations at www.irs.gov. It is important that your club comply with IRS requirements. Please note Section 6033(j) of the Internal Revenue Code automatically revokes the exemption of any organization that fails to satisfy its filing requirement for three consecutive years. Our document, US Rotary and Rotaract Clubs and the IRS: Frequently Asked Questions, provides general information about Rotary clubs and the IRS. For specific questions regarding your club’s tax-exempt status, reporting requirements, or your club’s ability to file, contact local counsel, your tax adviser, or the IRS directly at www.irs.gov or 877-829-5500. |

UPDATE !!!!Soooooo, we are changing much of this get-together 😄 The location for the Trolley tour had changed from the previous year, and gotten more expensive and more complicated, so at last night's meeting we discussed a little shift to the plan:
We will meet at the "Shaka Santa" in front of Honolulu Hale City Hall, at 6:00 pm ... from there, we will walk around the grounds - there's a new light tunnel this year that looks pretty cool in the daytime, so I'm sure its neat at night! We also will check out this year's Christmas Trees and Christmas Wreaths contest participants (on the inside areas).
After our eyes have gotten their fill, those hungry among us will meet at Nico's for a little dinner and chatting. They can't take reservations, but the night-manager told me that if I call ahead with a count, then they can try to prepare for us accordingly 🤩
For those that don't know, parking at the City Hall is free in the underground lot: Mauka to / north of King Street. The entrance is on Beretania (and remember that Beretania is one-way LOL !).
No pressure to RSVP because the Lights part is free, so you can just come if you can 🤗 ... then once we're there, we can call into Nico's for those who are interesting in doing that afterwards 🥳
Happy Holidays!! 🎄🌟🍾🥂 |

It is a relatively easy project and we wanted to start do develop good relations with the Interact Club and get to know the kids better by doing a joint project. Please sign up if you can make it.
